Homemade Chicken Broth

Happy smiling woman with curly hair lounging on couch.

Ingredients

  • leftover organic roasted chicken carcass or 2 pounds leftover chicken parts (bones, skin, etc.)

  • 2 small diced onions

  • 3 diced celery stalks

  • 4-5 garlic cloves

  • optional: add vegetables or fresh herbs as desired

  • optional: add a dash of apple cider vinegar

  • optional: add salt and pepper (approx. 2 teaspoons each)

  • filtered water to cover

Steps

  1. Place all ingredients in a pot and add the water last until it covers the chicken parts.

  2. Bring to a boil and skim off any foam that rises to the top. Turn down to low immediately so that it's just at a simmer.

  3. Simmer covered for 4 hours.

  4. Pour the chicken broth through a strainer and store in a Mason jar.
